YOUTH ACCOUNTS

Youth savings accounts are available for children and teens 18 years of age and younger. These accounts are designed to teach them to save for the future, and are available in two specific age groups. Each age group receives rewards specific to the account type.

Kirby Kangaroo® Club - 11 years and younger

Your child will receive a punch card when the account is open. For each deposit made, the child will receive one punch. When the card has reached ten punches, it can be redeemed for special gifts at the credit union.

CU Rising - 12-18 years

The CU Rising program helps teens manage their finances and provides them with a solid foundation for success. This program also offers teens the opportunity to learn the responsibilities of a checking account.

  • $25.00 minimum balance
  • Special prizes when account is opened
  • Quarterly newsletters with coupons for special rewards
  • Birthday milestone rewards for 13th, 15th and 16th birthdays.
  • Scholarship opportunity for high school seniors
  • Interactive website with educational financial information for teens

CU Rising Scholarship Opportunity

Family Security is proud to support high school seniors in furthering their education. We are excited to give five $1000.00 scholarships to qualifying Family Security CU Rising Members.

Please use the checklist below to ensure you have completed all steps in the application process. Applications, essays, and acceptance letters will be accepted January 1 - March 31. Winners will be notified by May 1st.

  • Are you a CU Rising Member at Family Security?
  • Have you filled out the online application?
  • Have you written a 500-word essay on the specified topic - To be announced annually.  2024-2025 Topic:  As you reflect on your educational journey through high school, what influenced you the most in your knowledge of personal finance?
  • Are you a graduating high school senior?
  • Do you have an acceptance letter from a college, university, trade school, or certificate program? You must email your acceptance letters and your essay, this is NOT part of the application process.

Scholarship checks will be made to the Claim Your Youth member.  An IRS Form 1099-MISC will be prepared.
