OVERDRAFT SERVICES
As a benefit of your good relationship with Family Security Credit Union, we offer Overdraft Privilege on many accounts. Overdraft Privilege is not a line of credit. This means that should you inadvertently overdraw your account we have the discretion to cover your overdrafts up to the amount outlined in our Overdraft Coverage Options: Overdraft Privilege and Overdraft Protection letter. When your items are paid, this service will help save you the embarrassment of an ATM or everyday debit card transaction being declined or the inconvenience of a check or ACH item being returned, as well as the fee normally charged to you by merchants for items returned to them.
You can choose how you would like to use these services. The Overdraft Privilege service is automatically available for checks, ACH and recurring debit card transactions, as well as internet and telephone transactions, unless you elect to discontinue having Overdraft Privilege cover future transactions by contacting us at (800) 239-5515. We will only approve and pay overdrafts for ATM and everyday debit card transactions if you ask us to by filling out and returning the ODP Standard/Extended Consent Form, completing the online form available in FSCU@HOME, calling, or coming by one of our convenient branch locations. If you have already given us your consent, it is not necessary to do so again.
Keep in mind that we also offer overdraft protection plans, such as a link to a savings account, which may be less costly than our standard overdraft practices. If you already have other forms of overdraft protection, Overdraft Privilege will only be used after these resources are exhausted.
