Opening a Youth Account with Family Security Credit Union is a great way for kids to acquire financial literacy while building savings.
Family Security Credit Union offers two Youth Account choices to help kids learn how to make wise financial decisions later in life. We also offer annual scholarships to help high school seniors further their education.
Kirby Kangaroo® Club
Designed for ages 11-under, your child will receive a punch card with the account. Every deposit equals one card punch. After 10 punches, your child can redeem the card for special gifts from Family Security Credit Union.

CU Rising
The CU Rising checking account helps kids ages 12-17 learn to manage their finances responsibly while building a solid foundation for financial success.

- Birthday milestone rewards for 13th, 15th and 16th birthdays.

CU Rising Scholarships
Family Security Credit Union is proud to help high school seniors further their education by offering five $1,000 scholarships to qualifying CU Rising account members.
Simply fill out the online scholarship application and submit the required essay and acceptance letter between January 1 and March 31. We will notify winners by May 1.
Scholarship Checklist:
- Are you a CU Rising Member at Family Security Credit Union?
- Are you a graduating high school senior?
- Have you filled out the online application?
- Have you written a 500-word essay on the specified topic? 2024-2025 Topic: As you reflect on your educational journey through high school, what influenced you the most in your knowledge of personal finance?
- Do you have an acceptance letter from a college, university, trade school, or certificate program? You must email your acceptance letters and your essay. This is NOT part of the application process.
Submit your essay and acceptance letter to scholarships@myfscu.com. Documents must be in Word or PDF formats. No photos or Google Docs, please.
Scholarship checks will be made to the CU Rising member. An IRS Form 1099-MISC will be prepared.
